Photo: From Project: In Love and Care

Halena is a Documentary Photographer and Editor based in London and Somerset, UK, with a First Class Honours in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at London College of Communication. Halena’s photographic practice centres around themes of community, care, and identity, and she approaches her subject matter with sensitivity and notable consideration.

Mainly working in the photographic medium, but with experience in videography and mixed media art and design, Halena takes a tactile approach to her work, from making physical books and prints, to experimenting with alternative processes such as polaroid emulsion lifts.

Through her time spent within the industry, Halena has produced personal projects, collaborated with and assisted like-minded creatives, working as a documentary photographer, bookmaker and designer, gallery curator and photo editor, in which each experience has taught her valuable and transferable skills.

Halena’s work has been exhibited in the Copeland Gallery in 2022 and 2023 and the Art House in Bethnal Green, London, in 2023. Next to her personal documentary projects, she has worked with clients such as Carers Trust, Southwark Playhouse, Citizens UK, and the National Film and Reality Television Awards. Alongside this, Halena works under James Mason Photography as a Photo Editor, with significant clients such as GQ, Conde Naste and the BFC.
